MRS. M. MANROSS

Mrs. Maria Jane Manross departed this life at the home of her son, Henry Manross, at Fagundus [sic], this county, on Saturday, May 19, 1923, at 11:4[?] p.m. She was the eldest daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Rhuland) Robinson, very early settlers [in?] Deerfield township, Warren county, where the subject of this sketch was born Dec. [?,] 1837. She was married to Joseph Manross, January 18, 1858, and has been a resident of Fagundus since that time. Her husband died July 22, 1914, since which time she has made her home with her son Henry on the family homestead. She is survived by [a?] family of seven childred [sic] as follows: Aurilla Sutley, Nancy Bunting, Isabella Barber, George Manross, Henry Manross, Eleanor DeRemer and May Thomas. She is also survived by 38 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Manross was a consistent member of the M. E. church for [?] years. She was a faithful wife and affectionate mother, ever ready to aid those [in?] distress, always kind and generous, willing at all times to lend a helping hand in sickness or afflication. Although she has gone to her reward her memory will ever be present with her many friends, who learned love and respect her for making their path way brighter by her pleasant personality christian influences and persistent effort[s?] for the good of the community, by which she will be grievously missed. Her pastor Rev. McKinley, conducted impressive funeral services in the Fagundus M. E. church of which the deceased was almost a ifelong [sic] member, on last Tuesday afternoon at [?] o'clock, followed by the interment beside kindred gone before in the Fagundus cemetery.
